Over time, the condition of the crawl space deteriorated due to damage to the floor joists and settling of the foundation piers.
This cinder block support pier has cracked and settled, losing its ability to adequately support the floor joists above.
Upon inspection, the Design Specialist immediately observed that the wooden floor joists in the crawl space were sagging under the weight of the appliances and furniture in the home.
Upon inspecting the crawl space, our Design Specialist discovered a significant amount of debris and deteriorated insulation that had accumulated over time.
The block piers originally installed in the crawl space to support the wood joists above had deteriorated and settled into the ground, resulting in inadequate support for the home's floors.
Cracks around windows and stairstep cracks to the exterior of a home are tell-tale signs there may be a problem. In this case, loose and unstable soils were causing this home's foundation to shift more than usual. LRE was able to design a perfect solution to remediate future settlement.
Large vertical cracks had formed in the exterior walls of the homeowner's addition, raising concerns about the foundation's stability.
Soil settlement has caused these block piers to sink into the ground, creating a lack of adequate support for the floor joists above.
