This Hampton, NH home was purchased two years ago by the current homeowner and they had a few issues that needed to be addressed in the crawlspace so TC Hafford Basement Systems got the call. System Design Specialist Peter Folsom met with the homeowner and put together a plan on how to lift the sagging floor and protect the crawlspace from moisture. The CleanSpace system aims to transform a damp and musty crawl space into a clean, dry, and healthier environment by effectively managing moisture and preventing water-related issues. It can help improve indoor air quality, protect structural integrity, and create a more comfortable living space above the crawl space. Benefits of using SmartJacks include increased structural stability, improved floor leveling, prevention of further damage, and the potential to regain the original height and integrity of the floors. Additionally, SmartJacks come with a warranty, providing peace of mind for property owners.

After living with basement troubles for some time, this homeowner thought it was time they finally had something done about it. They contacted us at TC Hafford Basement Systems, and we got to work right away! The main problem concerning this homeowner was their cracking basement wall, which needed additional support. To protect this wall from further damage, nine-foot PowerBrace beams were installed against the surface of the wall, fastened to the floor and joists above the wall. These beams can be tightened over time to force the wall back into position and hold it there permanently. Lastly, to handle the moisture accumulation the homeowner reported, a SuperSump pump was installed in the natural low point of the floor. This will take in any water gathering in the basement and pump it out of the home through a discharge line protected by an IceGuard attachment on the exterior of the home. IceGuard pipe segments protect homes by allowing any water blocked by ice or debris to escape the sides of the line before backing up into the basement. Now that their basement wall is secured and the moisture problem has been addressed, this homeowner no longer needs to worry about their basement sustaining any long-term damage.

Since purchasing the home four years ago, this Bowdoin, ME, homeowner wanted to address the issues with their foundation and prevent it from failing. System Design Specialist Todd Bernard worked with the homeowner to design a system that would reinforce the foundation wall and prevent any damage to the home. After collaborating, Todd created a system using PowerBrace to stabilize the wall. These steel I-beams will hold the wall in its current position without requiring immediate adjustment. Over time, the PowerBrace System can be tightened to straighten bowing or tilting walls. Now, the homeowner can use their basement for storage without worry, and the health of their home is protected.

Over time, a support beam in this Dixmont, ME, home began to rot, causing the floor to become uneven. The homeowner, who had lived in the home since the 1980s with no plans to move, decided to fix the problem and called TC Hafford Basement Systems. System Design Specialist Alan Noyes met with the homeowner and spent time in the crawl space evaluating the damage before sitting down to design a system specifically for this home. Since the support beam was rotting, it needed to be replaced. Alan decided that the best solution for the home would be a new supplemental beam with four SmartJacks. Once installed in the crawl space, SmartJack supports can correct issues such as sloping or overly springy floors, interior wall cracks, and out-of-level door frames. The floors are now stable, and the homeowner no longer has to worry about further damage to the structure of the home.
