Job review from Cassandra in South Bloomfield, OH 43103 on 10/04/22
Overall Rating:
4.8 out of 5Overall, I am happy with the results from Mid-State Basement Systems. My only disappointment is with their Everlast crawl space door design. My experience with Mid-State Basement Systems was a positive one. Of all the reviews I read, Mid-State Basement Systems came out on the top of the list. Their employees arrived as scheduled, friendly, hard workers and respectful. Each day before the installation crew left, they cleaned up after themselves, hauled away unwanted debris and checked in with me to answer questions that I may have & to coordinate start time the next day. Services purchased: CleanSpace encapsulation, SaniDry dehumidifier, SilverGlo wall insulation, SmartJacks, Everlast crawl space door. POSITIVES The crawl space looks fantastic! Before my crawl space was a dark, damp, musty place that was full of spiders – perfect for Halloween, but not a place I wanted to go into to change my furnace filter. Now my crawl space looks clean, is brighter and less scary plus my floors now have the support that they were previously lacking. My flashlight now longer seems to get swallowed up by the dirt. It reflects off the CleanSpace liner and SilverGlo insulation, which not only brightens up the space, but I can easily see full length of the crawl space. Also, I hope to see some utility savings due to the SilverGlo insulation in the very near future. Maybe even my hot water will get hotter faster. Haha. NEGATIVES I highly recommend that customers thoroughly discuss the below points during the estimation process. I feel that Mid-State Basement Systems could offer a better design solution or at least specifically call out these designs [to the customer] that are not homeowner friendly. Point 1: In my opinion, the Everlast crawl space door is not designed for crawl spaces that need frequent access by the homeowner – such as mine is with the furnace in it! Not only did my crawl space entry lose 2-3 inches in height & 2-3 inches in width – due to the wood frame that was installed, but it is attached with 7 screw bolts, so you need a powered tool to open it quickly. Don’t forget anything, like turning out the light, before you close that door up! Point 2: Mid-State Basement Systems does not provide a removable cover for a sump pump unless they install the pump. This means that the sump pump is covered by the encapsulation material and taped into place. Not very functional if the homeowner wants to check the equipment periodically for concerns or even replace it if/when it fails. Again, a design that is not homeowner friendly. I was not aware of this point until the end walk through of the installation.
I called Mid-State Basement Systems and made an appointment. The inspector. came out performed an inspection then reviewed his findings with me. He reviewed each issue, his recommendations, pricing for each service and financing options if needed. I made my selections. The inspector then provided me with multiple installation dates to choose from. This was all done on the first visit.
When the installation date arrived, the crew was on time and jumped right into work. They worked hard and were very respectful. Each day before they left, they cleaned up after themselves, hauled away unwanted debris from the crawlspace and checked in with me to answer questions that I may have & to coordinate start time the next day.
