This early 1970’s home had interior cracks in the kitchen and the living room. The homeowner inherited the home from his parents and isn’t sure it was last worked on. In the vibrant city of Phoenix, Arizona, a homeowner was confronted with a significant issue: a cracked and deteriorating driveway. Cracks in driveways typically occur when sections of the concrete slab break and sink into underlying soil that has compacted or washed away. These cracks not only mar the driveway's look but also permit moisture to seep in, leading to further soil erosion and additional cracking. Traditional repair methods, like urethane caulk, are prone to drying out, cracking, and bubbling, which necessitates frequent reapplications.

The homeowner contacted Arizona Foundation Solutions, and Brianna, the Customer Care Representative, promptly scheduled an on-site inspection. Angel, the Design Specialist, evaluated the problem and recommended the advanced NexusPro solution for a lasting repair.

Under the expert guidance of Foreman Juan, the team set to work on the driveway. The repair process began with the preparation of the cracks: they were drilled, smoothed, and filled with non-absorbent backer rod filler. Following this, the NexusPro sealant was meticulously applied. NexusPro is a silicone-based sealant specifically formulated to endure harsh weather and UV rays, unlike traditional polyurethane sealants that fail over time. To complete the process, the cracks were finished with a thin layer of native sand, giving the driveway a seamless and polished look.

The restoration process for the foundation slab of this historic Phoenix home involves utilizing innovative techniques such as PolyLevel, a lightweight expansive polyurethane solution. This method effectively fills any existing voids and elevates the floor slab to its optimal level.

To commence the repair, small 3/8” holes are carefully drilled into the exterior concrete slab. Through these access points, polyurethane grout is then skillfully injected directly beneath the slab surface. This process efficiently raises the slab to its Highest Practical Maximum, ensuring structural integrity and stability for the entire foundation.
