Humidity causes insulation to become saturated with water, sag, grow mold, and fall to the ground. Its better to have a vapor barrier with insulation than to have insulation. However if you prefer to have insulation you could get SilverGlo, a water proof foam panel with graphite particles to reflect heat into the crawlspace more.

If you have a leaky entryway to your crawlspace it can cause major problems. It can warp the entryway or door, rust your door, and of course it lets water and humid air into your crawlspace. A great solution to this is to get the water and air tight sealed Turtl. Also if you put one in and have it so the lid is at ground level, it's extremely durable so if someone was to walk on it or fall on top they aren't going to fall into a hole like most entry ways.
