Cracked Foundation Causes Concern in Lisbon Falls, ME
Lisbon Falls, ME homeowners reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems because they had major concerns over the structural integrity of their foundation wall. The wall had cracked and shifted over time, with blocks pushing into the space. We installed a StableLock Wall over the affected area. StableLock is a less disruptive and costly way to repair foundation wall issues than the traditional lifting of the home. We pour a new concrete wall directly in front of the failing wall, providing structural support to the home, and preventing the failing wall from continuing to shift or bow. Have a Failing Foundation Wall?
Since purchasing the home four years ago, this Bowdoin, ME, homeowner wanted to address the issues with their foundation and prevent it from failing. System Design Specialist Todd Bernard worked with the homeowner to design a system that would reinforce the foundation wall and prevent any damage to the home. After collaborating, Todd created a system using PowerBrace to stabilize the wall. These steel I-beams will hold the wall in its current position without requiring immediate adjustment. Over time, the PowerBrace System can be tightened to straighten bowing or tilting walls. Now, the homeowner can use their basement for storage without worry, and the health of their home is protected.
High-Performance Support Jack System Levels Sagging Floors in Brunswick, ME
We installed the SmartJack Support System to lift and level the sagging floors above the customer’s basement because the existing support was no longer doing its job. Over time, the floor had started to sag due to weakened or poorly installed supports, making the space less functional and safe. SmartJacks provide stable, adjustable support to restore the floor to its proper level and prevent further issues.
Sinking, Uneven Floors in Brunswick, Maine
We recently helped Brunswick, Maine homeowners with their newly purchased property. An engineering report showed that the current basement supports were insufficient to maintain the house. The floors were also noticeably slanted and uneven. We removed rusted old lally columns and installed new SmartJacks. SmartJacks are zinc-coated steel posts that will never rust, and are custom fit to provide proper support for the home. They can be tightened as needed to lift the floors back to level. A new steel supplemental beam was added as well, per the recommendations of the engineer. We also installed a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to control the humidity in the space and prevent further damage and rot of the wooden beams. The SaniDry Sedona can remove 100 pints of moisture from the air per day!
