Installing an Egress Window for Traverse City, MI, Homeowner
Jami realized her basement lacked a reliable escape route and wanted to install a larger window. She wasn't sure how to fix it herself, so she researched her options and called Ayers for help. Our experts visited her home and recommended installing an egress window to provide easy escapes during emergencies. Egress windows hold back soil and water while preventing surface falls, with a polycarbonate safety cover. The cover is also built to be stepped on without collapsing, to increase safety. Getting Rid of Musty Smells in Rapid City, MI
Claire had musty smells coming into her home from her crawl spaces. She called our team and so we instulated her rim joists. Insulating rim joists seals off all cracks that exist around them. Now air and water vapor can no longer seep through those cracks. Therefore, Claire won't have musty smells going throughout her house any longer.
WaterGuard in Rapid City, MI
The homeowners basement was finished and had water coming into it. Water coming into any basement is not a good situation, but water coming into a finished basement can do a lot of damage to personal belongings.
Our professional team decided that WaterGuard long lasting interior perimeter drainage system was the best solution for this wet basement. The WaterGuard system sits on the top of the footing to prevent clogging because of mud. The drainage system traps floor and wall seepage and directs that water straight to the sump pump. The sump pump then effectively removes the water from the home.
In the before picture you see the small trench that needs to be dug along the perimeter of your basement to make room for the product. In the after picture you see the installation after it is all finished with a fresh layer of concrete to make your basement look clean and beautiful.
Window Wells Get an Upgrade in Gaylord, MI
The problem with traditional basement window wells is the material they’re made of. Metal wells can be corroded, rusted or cracked by the weather and elements. The effects are only amplified when you consider that these wells are a few feet deep in soil. Once the wells have finally taken enough of a beating, water is able to push its way in.
These Gaylord, MI homeowners were dealing with that exact type of problem when we heard from them. Not only were the cracks allowing water to leak into the wells, the water had started to flood into their basement. Our replacement wells are made of plastic that won’t be eroded by the elements, so the cracks that let water seep in will be a thing of the past. Nor will they rust from the inside out; The wells come equipped with a plastic cover that won’t allow rain water or debris to build up. Replacing the rusted metal wells should be enough to solve the problem once and for all, but just in case leaks persist in another area of the basement, the team also installed a waterproofing system (including a window crack drain) to keep the house protected.
EverLast Walls Dry Out a Basement in Gaylord, MI
When heavy rainfalls happened, the owners of this basement would usually find puddles on the floor afterwards. Not wanting to ruin a finished basement for a repair, the system design specialist suggested our EverLast Finished Wall Restoration System as a solution. The EverLast system covers the bottom 32 inches of basement walls and drains water behind the panels. To make this happen, a perimeter drainage system was installed at the foot of the walls that would collect any runoff. Once the drywall of the original walls was cut away, a vapor barrier was installed that would direct any water to the perimeter WaterGuard system. Finally, after the vapor barrier was in place, the EverLast panels were attached using metal studs. The EverLast system makes this basement look great and stay dry at the same time!
