This family in Ann Arbor, MI wanted to have the crawl space in their new home encapsulated to prevent any future damage or odors from coming into the living space.

A homeowner in Detroit, MI experienced a shock most people won’t, their home was hit by a neighbor’s car. There was damage to both the outside and inside of the house which included a horizontal crack lining the foundation wall. The homeowner wanted to have the damage repaired and prevent the foundation from getting worse. They called HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair for a professional evaluation.

Mark, one of HomeSpec’s senior project managers, visited the house to inspect the true scope of the damage and develop a repair plan. He took notes of the measurements and then spoke with the homeowner about the best way to repair their home. Mark suggested installing CarbonArmor® Wall Reinforcing System to secure the foundation wall and prevent it from moving or bowing. The homeowner agreed to this plan and scheduled a crew to move forward with the project. They were happy with the completed project and looking forward to turning the basement into a living area now that the foundation was stable.

In Livonia, MI, two realtors worked together to make the sale and purchase of a home as simple as possible. They were both working with family members and strived for the best outcome for both parties. The buyer and the seller wanted to ensure the house was structurally sound. One of HomeSpec’s senior project managers, Mark, went out to the home and entered the crawl space. While he was there, Mark took measurements and notes so he could accurately diagnose the problem and create a repair plan. He shared that the best solution would be to install SmartJack® support posts where there were cinderblocks holding up beams in the crawl space. This would provide a more stable support that would not crack or crumble with time. They agreed with this plan and HomeSpec was scheduled to install the SmartJack® support posts. Jon, one of HomeSpec’s foremen, led an installation team. The final results accomplished the buyer and seller's goal of safer structural support.

A Grosse Pointe Woods, MI home had begun to show signs of settlement. Some of these signs include clear sinking from the front of the house as well as horizontal cracks and bowing along the basement walls. Together, they devised a plan to install helical piers to lift the foundation back to its original level and CarbonArmor® Wall Reinforcing System to secure the bowing wall. When the foreman, Ryan, and his crew arrived for the installations, the homeowner asked if it was possible to add on more repairs. After more discussion and confirming the budget the homeowner was comfortable with, the plan was to add an interior drainage system to the basement floors and a vapor barrier made of CleanSpace® for the walls. Because there were many parts to this plan, multiple teams were involved to ensure everything flowed smoothly. The other foremen who brought this homeowner’s vision to life were Eleftherios, Josh, and Rick. Once everything was complete, the homeowner was happy with their stabilized foundation and waterproof basement.
