Concrete Walkway Lifted in Rochester, MN

A customer from Rochester, MN gave us a call when she began to notice the concrete walkway leading up to her front door was beginning to sink. She feared that if the issue was left unchecked, it could create a dangerous tripping hazard and cost more down the line to fix. When she contacted us we set her up with our FREE estimate, which entitles the customer to a FREE no-obligations estimate and thorough inspection of the issue. Once the appointment was set, our Design Specialist, Jarrett, headed out to the property to assess the issue. Once he completed his walkthrough, he informed the homeowner that she was experiencing sinkage because the soil underneath the slab of concrete was shrinking. He went on to say this could be caused by excess water washing the soil away, extreme heat drying it out, or that the soil was poorly compacted when the home was first built. He suggested that she let us fix the issue by using our PolyLevel lifting and leveling solution. She agreed and work began shortly after.

Our PolyLevel crew, Troy and Cory, began the process by strategically drilling holes into the problem concrete slab. Next, they inserted the PolyLevel, a polyurethane foam that expands as it hardens. Once the slab was lifted back to the original position, our customer was happy to know that her concrete wouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon!

Leaky Basement Walls Get Transformed in Rochester, MN

A homeowner from Rochester, MN, got in touch with us one day after a particularly hard rainfall. She noticed that there was small droplets of water leaking down her wall and resting on her basement floor. She knew that water damage was not something to play around with, so she began her search for basement waterproofing in Rochester, MN. Through her online searches, she came across our website. She decided to sign up for one of our FREE estimates, and a few weeks later, Ryan P, one of our waterproofing Design Specialists, headed out to her home to see what could be done.

Ryan completed a thorough inspection of the basement, and when he was finished, he met with the homeowner to deliver his recommendations. Because of the kind of basement and the severity of the water intrusion, Ryan recommended three of our products to help the homeowner's basement. First, Ryan wanted to use our CleanSpace vapor barrier. CleanSpace is a 100% waterproof plastic vapor barrier that gets applied directly to unfinished basement walls. It's durable, washable, and has anti-microbial protection called UltraFresh built right in! This innovative product works to collect water entering from cracks or holes in the wall, directing it downward and directly into a perimeter drain, which in this case, Ryan wanted to be our WaterGuard. WaterGuard is a unique French drain system that gets installed below the floor slab and atop the footing of the foundation. By placing the drain here, it stays out of the "mud zone" where other drains tend to clog. This drain works to collect water draining downward from CleanSpace, as well as from the floor, giving it a channel to flow freely to the appropriate disposal site. Because the basement lacked this site, Ryan was recommending our SuperSump sump pump. He explained that it's the perfect choice for an effective, yet economical solution. It is engineered to help keep the basement dry and healthy for extended periods, even in times of heavy water intrusion. The SuperSump® includes a powerful Zoeller® ⅓ horsepower cast-iron sump pump, capable of pumping 2,220 gallons of water per hour at an 8-foot head out of your basement. The homeowner liked the idea of all of our products working hand-in-hand, so she decided to schedule the installation for some time later.

The day of the project rolled around and our installation crew, led by their Foreman, Kiko got right to work transforming the homeowner's basement. In the end, our team installed  ft36 of WaterGuard and CleanSpace, and 1 SuperSump sump pump. Now, our customer can enjoy the rainfall knowing her basement has the best line of defense against water intrusion!

Leaky, Unstable Garage Gets Fixed in Rochester, MN

A Rochester, MN, homeowner was dealing with a notoriously leaky attached garage. Standing water and leaky walls were just the tip of the iceberg. The homeowner also suspected that the walls of the garage were beginning to bow inward, indicating structural concerns. On the recommendation of a friend, she decided to call American Waterworks for her FREE estimate, and several weeks later, Ryan K, one of our Design Specialists, headed out to the home.

Ryan took his time evaluating the garage and the surrounding landscaping. When he was finished, he was ready to make his recommendation. Ryan wanted to use several of our products to address the garage. First, Ryan wanted to use our Foamax wall panelsInsulating your basement walls with Foamax provides comfort and energy bill savings, while making your walls look clean and bright. Foamax is an advanced foam insulation panel that reduces condensation for exceptional moisture protection. Ryan also recommended to be our DryTrak drain pipeMost foundations come in three pieces: walls, floor, and footing. Other foundations (called monolithic foundations) come with the floor and footing as one piece, and the walls are installed on top as a separate piece. Monolithic foundations have exceptionally thick floors around the edges. Jackhammering through these thick concrete floors is very time-consuming and creates a lot of dust! To avoid these issues, we recommend the DryTrak® Baseboard Drain Pipe System. This unique drain system is installed above the floor, eliminating the dust and labor of jackhammering. The DryTrak would connect to the appropriate disposal site, which Ryan recommended to be our TripleSafe sump pump. The TripleSafe is the most reliable sump pump system in our lineup, boasting three levels of protection for your basement and your peace of mind. For normal functioning, the TripleSafe has a powerful, cast-iron Zoeller® ⅓ horsepower sump pump set at the lowest level. For heavy volumes of water or in case of primary pump failure, a second, more powerful Zoeller® ½ hp pump set a bit higher in the liner will take over. To address the failing wall, Ryan recommended our PowerBrace system. This system is a patented foundation wall repair system that's designed to stabilize failing basement walls and provide the potential to straighten walls over time.

These steel I-beams will stabilize the wall in its current position without any further adjustment. Over time, the PowerBrace™ System can be tightened to make bowing or tilting walls straighter and more vertical. The homeowner was thrilled to know that Ryan had found remedies for her garage, and decided to schedule the project for several weeks later.

On the day of the project, our Foreman, Jeromy, led his team through the installation. In the end, they installed 3 PowerBraces, 65 ft of DryTrak, and 65 ft of Foamax throughout the space. Now, our customer can enjoy her basement without worries of unwanted water!

Crawl Space Upgraded in Rochester, MN

A Rochester, MN, homeowner had noticed a musty smell wafting through his home in the past few months. He had tried several remedies to get the odor removed from his home but nothing was working. He was aware that American Waterworks, a local company in his town, worked on unhealthy crawl spaces, so he decided to schedule his FREE estimate. Several weeks later, Gary S, headed out to the home to see what could be done.

After completing his thorough inspection, Gary informed the homeowner that the crawl space was taking unnecessary water and recommended two of our products to address the damp basement. First, Gary wanted to use our CleanSpace for crawl spaces. This 100% waterproof tarp-like material gets adhered directly to the walls of the crawl space and works to collect water entering the space through holes or cracks in the wall, directing it downward. Next, Gary wanted to use our drainage matting. Crawl space liners rest directly on the crawl space floor. If your crawl space is flooding, water can be trapped underneath, never making it to your perimeter drain. The raised dimples on our CleanSpace® Drainage Matting give the water flooding into your crawl space a channel underneath your crawl space liner. This directs the water flooding your crawl space to the appropriate disposal site. The homeowner liked the sound of Gary's plan, and scheduled the job on the spot.

On the day of the project, our Foreman, Jeromy A, led his team through the installation of 450 sqft of Drainage Matting and another 528 sqft of CleanSpace. Now, our customers can rest easy knowing foul odors have been handled!

Wet Basement Transformed to Dry, Clean Space in Pepin, WI

Dan C. in Pepin, WI had severe water problems in the basement of his old farmhouse. Water was coming through the sandstone walls as well as the concrete floor. He contacted the waterproofing experts at American Waterworks to receive a FREE estimate. We sent one of our Design Specialists, Dustin Loftus to inspect his home and develop the right solution for his basement. He was pleased with the solution we recommended, so he scheduled to have our waterproofing system installed as soon as possible.

Our production crew removed the concrete around the perimeter of the basement floor as well as a thin line of concrete through the middle of the floor. They laid our WaterGuard drainage system, a lateral line, and a TripleSafe sump pump and then filled back the gaps in the floor with rock before replacing the concrete. Then, they installed our CleanSpace vapor barrier along the basement walls to keep moisture out and prevent from potential mold growth.
