Foundation Repair for Sinking Slab at Cabin in Lake Nebagamon, WI
Cabin owners in Lake Nebagamon, WI had considerable sinking on one end of the home. This caused settling in the foundation, creating cracks in the basement floor and allowing water to reach the home. Worried about the issue getting worse, they reached out to DBS for a permanent solution.
DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo is an expert foundation repair. After visiting the home and providing a free, no-obligation estimate for the work done, Henrik determined that the home needed assistance from our structural, waterproofing, and concrete repair teams.
Our Basement Repair Foreman Zach Royer and his production crew removed concrete on the interior of the home in order to install 4 push piers. From there, they performed a lift procedure. These galvanized steel piers were hydraulically driven into the ground to weight-bearing soils. The weight of the home was then transferred to the competent soil. One that was completed, our concrete repair team took over to lift and level the area where the poured slad has sunken.
The cabin owners were happy with the work done and can now depend on a safe and comfortable home for years to come.
Sturdy Steel Beams Replace Old Wooden Beams From The 1940's in Minong, WI
The owners of this cabin built in the 1940s noticed cracking in the sides of their foundation walls, and on the interior as well. This is one of the first indications of sinking and settling of foundational support systems which can eventually lead to wall failure if left alone. They feared that the backside addition may completely detach from the rest of the structure. In hopes of finding a solution to their problem in order to keep the cabin in the family, they called DBS.
One of our Design Specialists, Zach Guilliams, visited the property to do a free no-obligation estimate of the problem at hand. After careful evaluation, he determined that the 2 main wooden beams supporting the cabin were the root of the issue. Zach expressed to the owners that our solution to this problem would be to replace the original wooden beams with galvanized steel beams and replace the concrete block support columns with 5 helical piers and 2 SmartJack®. Working Production Manager George Barry and his team led the installation for this project, and once finished, this became a permanent solution that will help prevent any further settling of the cabin, and correct cracking that had occurred in the walls.
This cabin is now sturdier than it has ever been, and the family can now have peace of mind knowing that their cabin will continue to be passed down for future generations.

Foundation Stabilization and Lift in Minneapolis, MN
This customer reached out to DBS after noticing cracks in their basement walls and on the outside of the house. With the intention of potentially renting out or selling their property, they wanted to make sure their basement was safe and wasn't going to cause any further issues in the future.
When our Design Specialist, Nicholas Corbin, went out to the property, he inspected the cracks and was able to relate them to a foundation issue. The foundation was settling and the house needed to be supported through the installation of interior piers and lifts.
Once our production crew was able to get out to the residents property, they were able to install our 3" Push Piers that have a low profile bracket underneath the foundation and lift it back into place. Once the products were installed, the homeowner was happy with the results and could be more comfortable renovating the basement for the future of the house.
