If you're buying a home, it's important to have your home inspector check out the crawl space before you finalize the sale.

Our client has bought his house in Saint-Colomban several years ago, and started having sagging floors in his house and knew that he needed to find specialists to solve this situation.

After finding our company, we sent our team to inspect the area and so we suggested a full encapsulation of the crawl space.

We installed our Drainage Mat to redirect the water to one of our best sump pump systems known as ‘The SuperSump’ pump system. The SuperSump pump is one of the best pumps in the market with more than 100 holes to drain the water under the slab.

Then we installed our CleanSpace waterproofing membrane to prevent the evaporation of ground moisture into the crawl space air.

And finally, and in order to stabilize the floors in the house, we installed 2 SmartJacks supports. The SmartJack is a support beam designed by engineers that adjusts to the exact height between the solid base and the support beam at the top.

The problem

The foundation walls blocks of Mr. Moreau's house had moved and he feared from house sagging. Knowing the problem, he took the necessary measures to protect his investment and therefore stabilize his foundation walls.

The block foundation walls had staircase-like cracks in a few places and then the bottom of one of the walls started to slope slightly inward into the basement. It was actually signs of sagging foundations. He contacted Systèmes Sous-sol Québec to have a reliable and above all permanent solution!

The solution

The installation of our PowerBrace steel beams. They stabilize foundation walls and can be tightened over time to straighten sloping walls. No need to excavate with this solution and the beams are coated with zinc so it will not rust.

With this solution, Mr. Moreau will be able to have the peace of mind as his foundation walls got stabilized once and for all.

Our client noticed that the floor of his house was unstable and slightly tilted. It was actually due to the retaining wall that had started to show signs of subsidence.

After a visit from a specialist, it was agreed to install a patented SmartJack support system. The goal was to support the joists of the house and get the floor back to its original level.
