This East Hampton basement had a crack in its wall that was causing concern for the homeowner. The crack looked minor on the outside, but was allowing for air and moisture to enter the basement. This additional moisture was causing the basement to have a musty odor and the excess air was causing unwanted drafts. The homeowner wanted a solution that would correctly seal and waterproof her basement’s crack. She decided to call Connecticut Basement Systems for a free estimate. 

The solution to fixing this homeowner’s problem was to apply our FlexiSpan system to the crack. Our FlexiSpan system seals the crack with a flexible sealant to prevent any air from leaking through. Then, a hidden foam channel is placed over the seal to direct any possible moisture or water to enter the basement. Unlike traditional sealant or mortar-based crack repair, FlexiSpan is not affected by hydrostatic pressure or slight movement in the basement wall. This means that our solution will work under all conditions. 

Once the entire project was completed, the homeowner was extremely happy and impressed with the results. Now, she does not have to worry about her home having water or a must odor and can enjoy a clean, dry basement all year long.

In order to seal everything in, the rim joists were insulated with Spray Foam. And lastly, in order to keep humidity low and create a healthier environment, a SaniDry dehumidifier was installed. Linen Ceiling tiles were installed to give the basement a real finished look. We were also able to install a closet (as seen in the after photo) for additional storage.

The solution for this Enfield crawlspace was to add rim joist insulation. Marcio Bahiense and his production team installed the spray foam insulation to the rim joists professionally and efficiently. The benefit to having the rim joists insulated with spray foam is that it acts as an effective barrier, protecting against air leakage and moisture. It also has superior R-value (R-6.2 to be exact), meaning that your home will be better insulated compared to traditional batt insulation. Lastly, this product is waterproof and has the ability to completely cover any area.

A homeowner in Enfield, CT was experiencing the common signs of a leaky basement; water pooling up around the perimeter and low spots in the floor, white stains on the concrete walls (a result of efflorescence), and a damp, musty smell that lingered in the air. Upon calling, the homeowner made contact with Sales Representative Ron Marra. Marra listened to the homeowner's concerns, scheduling a free home visit to further diagnose the situation. Once the proposal was drafted and accepted by the homeowner, Foreman Vic Varela and team arrived on site.

Varela's team installed a TripleSafe sump pump in the location of a pre-existing sump pit.  Additionally, the WaterGuard system installed along the perimeter tied back into the sump pump, expelling water that enters via the perimeter. With the TripleSafe sump pump and WaterGuard system installed, the homeowner felt much more confident!
