Retaining Wall Failure Repaired in Des Peres, MO

This angle shows how a retaining wall dividing an upper loading dock and a lower parking lot at Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri was failing.  The concrete wall was temporarily braced by supports while the hospital sought after a contractor to repair the wall and prevent it from collapsing.

Woods Basement Systems installed 12 Foundation Supportworks Geo-Lock Wall Anchors to straighten and stabilize the retaining wall.  The dock side of the wall was excavated first, and then supporting anchor rods were driven from the parking lot side of the wall, through the retaining wall, and beyond the active wedge.  The crew dug holes in the dock lot, so earth anchors could be attached.
Then, wall anchor plates were installed on the face of the retaining wall and tightened to the anchor rods.  After the wall was straightened, stabilized, and backfilled, the temporary supports were removed, and the lot was ready to be re-finished.  Now, the loading dock and parking lot are fully operational.
