A Sturdy Basement Foundation in French Lick, IN
When Dane H. from French Lick, IN would walk across his floors upstairs, he knew they were uneven. Every time he walked across them, they creaked. Dane had been putting them off, but finally decided that enough was enough. He decided to call Healthy Spaces to see what the best solution would be.
Design Specialist, Mike McAtee, came out to do a thorough inspection of Danes basement. To stabilize the floor upstairs, 4 SmartJacks were installed. These SmartJacks are a steel support system that is used to permanently stabilize and level the girders and floor joists. They don't replace the existing columns and piers but add strength and stability to what is there. After these are installed, they lift the above floors and walls back toward their original position.
Since the work was completed, Dane hasn't heard his creaking floors.
Mold in Eckerty, IN Crawl Space
Nick C. from Eckerty, IN knew there was something going on in his crawl space. He had purchased the home a year ago, and began to notice an odd smell. As time went on, the smell only got worse, so he did a quick Google search and reached out to us at Healthy Spaces to do a free inspection.
We send a System Design Specialist to Nick's home to assess the mold situation going on in his crawl space. In order to prevent mold from growing, the basement and crawl space must be kept dry and without humidity. The key to controlling mold in your basement or crawl space is to eliminate the humidity that keeps it thriving. Nick agreed and Steven, the lead of our Mold Crew, came out and started the process. Our remediation process includes removing all mold-damaged materials, drying out the basement or crawl space, and thoroughly cleaning all surfaces.
Nick noticed the smell beginning to go away and was so thankful that he made the call to Healthy Spaces.
Moisture in Crawlspace in Payneville, KY
This Payneville, KY crawl space was full of mold, moisture, and mud and the homeowners needed a solution to repair and prevent the damage from reoccurring. As you know, the earth is damp, and as that damp soil dries beneath your house, the water vapor moves upward. The dirt floor in the before picture makes for an easy passageway for moisture to enter the crawl space and cause problems.
Design Specialist, Bob Roberts, was sent to the home to discuss what steps they could take to stop more damage. To prevent issues like these, the CleanSpace barrier was installed. This has multiple layers of plastics with flexibility and tear resistance to stop water vapor from permeating up from the floor. When the CleanSpace liner is laid over the floor of the crawl space, water can seep or even flow under it to the sump, keeping your crawl space clean and dry. This encapsulation system satisfied all of the repair criteria while dramatically transforming the area into a healthy, usable space. This crawl space now has no more humidity than upstairs.
Leaky Basement Windows in Odon, IN
Homeowner Rita, from Odon, IN had a finished basement that would leak water. Having window wells that were over 25 years old and uncovered made an easy path for water to leak in. Since the basement has low air pressure (sucking air in), the cold winter air or warm humid summertime air is pulled into the basement. You end up paying more in heating, cooling, and dehumidification costs than if you were to replace the windows.
Rita gave Healthy Spaces a call and Design Specialist Jake Stilwell, quickly came to evaluate her basement windows. He concluded that Rita would need 5 new EverLast basement windows, along with our SunHouse window enclosures. EverLast windows are all vinyl so they'll never rot, rust, or need to be painted. They also have double pane glass and good weather stripping for warmth and comfort. Our SunHouse basement window enclosures feature a sturdy, clear cover that fits nicely and a bottom that prevents weed growth, keeps leaves, debris, and rain out. The best benefit of the SunHouse for Rita to enjoy is that it allows more sunlight to bounce into her basement giving her natural sunlight.
Dubois, IN TripleSafe Sump Pump Installation
There are different levels of water intrusion in a basement. Some basements just leak a little and it doesn't feel like much of a big deal. Other basements have consistent flooding that can really fill up the space with water in no time! Because there are different amounts of water intrusion, there are different levels of sump pumps. The most powerful sump pump on the market is the TripleSafe sump pump. The rugged plastic body hold not one but three pumps set at different heights to handle every level of water intrusion possible. The first pump is for the regular water load that comes in rain or shine. The second pump is set higher up to help pump when a sudden rainstorm starts filling the basket quickly. Finally, there's a third pump even higher up that runs on a battery back up and can kick on if the pump is overwhelmed.
