Stair-Step Cracking in Lewisport, KY
A retaining wall was pulling away from the home foundation and taking the corner block with it, causing stair-step cracking on the wall. The family in Lewisport, KY knew what they needed and came to us for advice on how and where the issue needed to be repaired. Retaining walls are structures that hold back or retain soil, water, and other materials. Since a retaining wall has been supporting the landscaping, the wall needed to be straightened to continue benefiting.
The best solution for straightening the retaining wall was to install the GeoLock Wall Anchor system. Wall anchors are installed by digging a small hole in the soil away from your home's foundation. A steel rod is drilled through a one-inch hole in the basement wall and is connected to any earth anchor seated deep within the augured hole. A low-profile wall plate placed on the interior of the basement wall is secured to the rod. The augured hole is backfilled and sod is replaced. All components are then connected and tightened. The retaining wall is now back to performing the job it's supposed to be doing: preventing erosion.
Bowing Wall in Newburgh, IN
In Newburgh, IN, a couple needed their foundation inspected to see what further plans needed to be set in place for their issue. One wall of the foundation, located in the basement, was bowing and would bring water inside whenever it rained. There needed to be a reliable, secure system set in place for the home to be healthy.

Foundation Settlement in Uniontown, KY
In Uniontown, KY, Healthy Spaces received a call from a homeowner concerning their home's foundation. The foundation and bricks were cracking and sinking. The home sits on a crawl space, and when the crawl space was inspected, cracks were forming on the walls. The saying," it gets worse before it gets better" does not apply to foundation settlement. The issue will continue to worsen until the problem is dealt with.
The push-pier system reaches greater depths than other options. An external sleeve is used to strengthen the pier system directly below the bracket to prevent kinking and bending and ensure a vertical installation in competent soils. Hydraulic hoses such as the blue and red ones pictured below have a gauge that shows how far down the pier is in the ground and how much more hydraulic pressure needs to be added. While this process is happening, cracks are inspected to ensure that the home settlement is fixed. The homeowner was relieved to have a permanent solution set in place.

The basement needed a permanent feature that would stabilize the walls from the foundation settlement. The PowerBrace system is custom fit to the basement wall height and secured tightly against it. This system can be tightened over time, stopping wall failure without invasive drilling or digging on the property. The homeowner felt at peace once the project was completed.
Bowing Basement Wall Repair in Evansville, IN
In Evansville, Indiana, basement walls slide in from the bottom, wreaking havoc when it rains. Once it rained, the water would leak in and damage any keepsakes that the homeowner had stored on the floor. The nightmare had been going on long enough that Healthy Spaces was contacted to fix it.
The basement wall had begun to "shear", or slide in at the bottom, which needed a system for not only straightening the middle of the wall but the bottom as well. The GeoLock Channel Anchor System projects the foundation walls from further inward movement. The heavy-duty steel earth anchors are embedded in stable soil away from the foundation wall and then connected to steel wall channels with galvanized steel rods. There are four main steps to using this system. First, carefully remove the sod and drill holes to place the earth anchor several feet away from the foundation wall. Next, drive galvanized steel rod through a small hole in the interior foundation and attach it to the earth anchor. Install a channel anchor and floor plate. Lastly, replace soil and sod. The anchors are then tightened. Once the GeoLock Channel Anchor System was installed, there were no more worries about the next rainfall.
