This homeowner lives alone and rarely could get into her basement. She was worried that the walls would cave in between the times she could get down there. She knew of Thrashers reputation, and gave us a call. Kevin French came out to meet with her. After inspection her foundation, it was clear her walls were in very bad shape. Over time the soil around her foundation had shifted and allowed her walls to be less supported. Kevin proposed we use Power Braces to give that support back to the wall. Power Braces are one of our foundation repair products. They are floor to ceiling braces that are installed to the wall. This prevents the walls to stop caving in, and overtime can straighten the walls back out. Check out the before and after of this process! With all of the dry weather the ground has released a lot of water and shriveled up.  During this process the soil will pull away from the foundation walls. This will allow movement and settlement of the basement foundation walls. This is an example of cracks in the wall and the wall is bowing. The wall can be braced and stabilized with bracing. In many cases the wall can be straightened back to plumb.

Bowing walls and cracked walls are a common problem during dry weather and dry seasons.  The moisture evaporates out of the soil and the soil shrinks up and pulls away from the basement foundation.  This process will allow the foundation to move, shift, settle, bow and crack.  In this case the repair is wall bracing.  Take a look at the clean finish after the repair is complete.

Theresa C. noticed sagging floors in her kitchen and hallway near the washer and dryer. The floors on the main level were starting to settle. She thought the solution would be to install new flooring, but a flooring specialist recommended better support was needed first. She decided to call us to have a look.

We had a System Design Specialist, Nicholas Hruska, go to her home to evaluate what we could do to fix the problem. He noticed that her support jacks were not supporting the floor above which was causing the sagging. We fixed the problem by installing a new supplemental beam with 3 SmartJacks. The support beam under the hallway which had the washer and dryer above was in good shape but the wood columns were splitting and moving because they did not have a solid footing under and could not support the weight. We installed 4 new SmartJacks with good footings under the existing beam. Her floors have now lifted about a 1/2 inch and as a result, was able to put in new floors!
