These beams are zinc coated so they will not rust and they are made of steel. The system can be tightened over time as the wall moves. Chester's basement was literally being supported by a stack of cinder blocks. The steel girders that make up the foundation of his home was sitting on a stack of dangerous blocks.  If those blocks were to slip his house could potentially cave into his home.
