Sump Pump Upgrade Saves Damp Basement in Plymouth, MN

A couple from Plymouth, MN, got in touch with us when they noticed that the lower level of their home was taking on water. They didn't want water damage to hinder any potential resale of the home, so they decided to find a contractor that could address the problem and eventually, they found our website. Impressed with other work we had done in their area, they decided to sign up for one of our FREE estimates. A few weeks later, our Design Specialist, Nick S, headed out to the home. After Nick got a good idea of the problem in the home, he was ready to make his recommendations. He recommended the installation of our SuperSump sump pump. He explained that this sump pump is an effective and economical solution. It's engineered to help keep the basement dry and healthy for extended periods of time, even in times of heavy water intrusion. It boasts a powerful Zoeller® 1/3 horsepower cast-iron sump pump, capable of pumping 2,220 gallons of water per hour at an 8-foot head out of your basement. The homeowner liked the sound of Nick's plan, and scheduled the installation for several weeks later. When the installation date rolled around, our Foreman, Edgar, and his team installed 1 of our SuperSump sump pumps in the home. Now, our customers can rest easy knowing their home is protected!

Wet Basement Restored in Coon Rapids, MN

Mitch J. in Coon Rapids, MN had water seeping into his basement. He expressed his frustration about the problem in his basement to a friend and that friend recommended that he call American Waterworks to waterproof his basement. Mitch decided to call us for a free estimate, so we sent one of our Design Specialists, Jeremy Radtke, to his home to inspect the problem and design a solution. Jeremy worked closely with Mitch to develop a plan that was best fitting for his needs. Mitch was pleased with the proposal that Jeremy presented to him, so he scheduled a date for us to waterproof his basement.

Our production team started the installation by removing the concrete around the perimeter of Mitch’s basement, and the concrete where they needed to install the new sump pump. Then, they laid our WaterGuard drainage system around the perimeter and a feed line through the middle of the basement floor. The WaterGuard and feed line properly drain water to the sump pump, instead of the water pooling in his basement. Once the water reaches the sump pump, it is pushed through the discharge line and expelled from the home. Mitch was very pleased with the work that the crew did! He is glad he chose to invest in his home and protect his basement for the long-term.

Dangerous Radon Gas Mitigated from Coon Rapids, MN, Home

A Coon Rapids, MN,  homeowner had recently learned about the dangers of radon gas in a household. He was looking to have his home tested, so he decided to look for Minnesota radon specialists and quickly found American Waterworks. Impressed with our pictures of radon mitigation systems we had installed in his area, he decided to claim his FREE estimate.

Several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Dave S, was headed out to the home. When Dave arrived, the first part of his inspection included placing a continuous radon monitoring test in the lowest level of the home. This test works to record the levels of radon in the home over 48 hours, delivering an average result at the end. After Dave concluded his walkthrough, he met with the homeowner. Dave explained that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends taking action at any level higher than 4 pCi/L, and that if the test returned higher than that, he would strongly urge the homeowner to consider installing a radon mitigation system. Dave went on to say that a typical radon mitigation system consists of a large-diameter plastic pipe that connects the air beneath your foundation to the outdoors. An in-line fan sucks radon-rich air from beneath your foundation and expels this hazardous air to the exterior. Instead of entering your basement or other living space area through numerous gaps and cracks in the foundation, radon gas is extracted from beneath your foundation before it can permeate into interior space. When the process is completed by an experienced professional, a radon mitigation system will lower the concentration of radon gas in the interior air to the minimal levels recommended by the EPA and other health and safety agencies. The homeowner was pleased with Dave's evaluation and transparency about the levels in the home and ultimately decided to think about the problem and make a decision when the results returned. 48 hours later, Dave returned to the home to collect the results of the test. After discovering the levels in the home were much higher than the recommended levels, the homeowner decided to proceed with the project.

A month later, our Foreman, Dakota M, and his Co-Foreman, Mauro R, were out at the home installing the system. Now that the project is complete, our homeowner is thrilled to know that his home is circulating the cleanest air!
