Justin from Baldwin, WI, had discovered water under his home's laminate flooring in the basement. They had ripped out the flooring and some of the wall to find three cracks in the foundation that had been repaired at some point, but were now letting water in. He wanted to discuss some foundation repair solutions with our team, so he called for a FREE estimate to understand our possible solutions. Our Design Specialist, Mac, traveled to her home to take a look around. Once he completed his walkthrough, he was ready to make his recommendation for a plan to transform Justin's basement into a healthy, clean space. He recommended the customer invest in our WaterGuard system. This particular system is typically used in basements and is the premier choice for basement waterproofing as it is installed below the floor, but rests atop the foundation, keeping it out of the "mud zone", making it harder to clog. 

Foreman, Tremaine, and his crew, headed out and started making Justin's home a drier, safer place to live. First, our WaterGuard is a patented below-floor drain that rests in a drainage bed on top of the foundation footing. It is our most commonly used drain system because of its resistance to water clogs, easy-to-access service ports, and ability to collect leaking water from basement walls. The team then covered the open gaps with rock and replaced the concrete.

They then went to work installing our CleanSpace vapor barrier to address water Issues. CleanSpace is a 100% waterproof plastic barrier that gets installed right onto the problem walls, and works to catch water entering the space through cracks and holes in the wall. This also reduces the home's chances of being exposed to radon. The crew also used spray foam to seal and waterproof the homeowner's crawl space. Our spray foam is designed to keep the heat inside and prevent cool air from coming in. With the decision made to install a discharge line in the basement, Foreman Lane and his team went out to the property and got to work. By adding a 30 foot discharge line from the south end of the home into the yard, water gets properly relocated. The team also implemented our LawnScape Outlet, which is a pipe buried from the downspout that lets water outside onto the surface of the lawn while camouflaging the end of the pipe. The lid comes off for easy cleaning, minimizing maintenance for your home. Furthermore, American Waterworks can help prevent wintertime freeze-up of discharge lines. We installed the patented IceGuard® system, an anti-freeze fitting that is installed outside of your home and ejects water away from the foundation if the sump pump discharge lines freeze or become clogged. Once the WaterGuard was in place, the crew dug a feedline to the sump pump. Finally, the crew attached CleanSpace to the unfinished basement walls. The crew completed the waterproofing products, so they cleaned up their materials and left the home. The homeowner was beyond grateful for the excellent work completed by the crew. Dan C. in Pepin, WI had severe water problems in the basement of his old farmhouse. Water was coming through the sandstone walls as well as the concrete floor. He contacted the waterproofing experts at American Waterworks to receive a FREE estimate. We sent one of our Design Specialists, Dustin Loftus to inspect his home and develop the right solution for his basement. Our production crew removed the concrete around the perimeter of the basement floor as well as a thin line of concrete through the middle of the floor. They laid our WaterGuard drainage system, a lateral line, and a TripleSafe sump pump and then filled back the gaps in the floor with rock before replacing the concrete. Then, they installed our CleanSpace vapor barrier along the basement walls to keep moisture out and prevent from potential mold growth. Dan was pleased with the result and is now enjoying a dry, clean basement!

A homeowner from Plum City, WI, was reading a local newspaper when she found an article on radon gas. She had never heard of radon before, but from what she read, she understood that the dangers of radon were very high. She decided to find a radon mitigation specialist in her area to help restore peace of mind in her home. When she found our website, she signed up for her FREE estimate, and several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Chuck H, was headed out to the home. In the meantime, the homeowner headed to her local home improvement store and purchased an at-home radon level test. When the test returned with high levels, she knew she had made the right choice by contacting us. 

When Chuck arrived, she informed him that the levels in the home were high, so Chuck began his inspection by scouting out the best spot for a mitigation system. When he was finished, Chuck met with the homeowner and informed her that he was strongly recommending a radon mitigation system. He explained that a typical radon mitigation system consists of a large-diameter plastic pipe that connects the air beneath your foundation to the outdoors. An in-line fan sucks radon-rich air from beneath your foundation and expels this hazardous air to the exterior. Instead of entering your basement or other living space area through numerous gaps and cracks in the foundation, radon gas is extracted from beneath your foundation before it can permeate into interior space. He finished by saying that, when installed by an experienced professional, a radon mitigation system will lower the concentration of radon gas in your interior air to the minimal levels recommended by the EPA and other health safety agencies. The homeowner liked the sound of Chuck's plan, and the two worked together to find a date for the installation. 

On the day of the project, our Foreman, Dakota, led his team through a successful installation of the radon mitigation system. Now, our customer has restored faith in the air circulating her home!
