Radon Gas Eliminated in Plum City, WI

A homeowner from Plum City, WI, was reading a local newspaper when she found an article on radon gas. She had never heard of radon before, but from what she read, she understood that the dangers of radon were very high. She decided to find a radon mitigation specialist in her area to help restore peace of mind in her home. When she found our website, she signed up for her FREE estimate, and several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Chuck H, was headed out to the home. In the meantime, the homeowner headed to her local home improvement store and purchased an at-home radon level test. When the test returned with high levels, she knew she had made the right choice by contacting us.

When Chuck arrived, she informed him that the levels in the home were high, so Chuck began his inspection by scouting out the best spot for a mitigation system. When he was finished, Chuck met with the homeowner and informed her that he was strongly recommending a radon mitigation system. He explained that a typical radon mitigation system consists of a large-diameter plastic pipe that connects the air beneath your foundation to the outdoors. An in-line fan sucks radon-rich air from beneath your foundation and expels this hazardous air to the exterior. Instead of entering your basement or other living space area through numerous gaps and cracks in the foundation, radon gas is extracted from beneath your foundation before it can permeate into interior space. He finished by saying that, when installed by an experienced professional, a radon mitigation system will lower the concentration of radon gas in your interior air to the minimal levels recommended by the EPA and other health safety agencies. The homeowner liked the sound of Chuck's plan, and the two worked together to find a date for the installation.

On the day of the project, our Foreman, Dakota, led his team through a successful installation of the radon mitigation system. Now, our customer has restored faith in the air circulating her home!

Leaky Basement in Wabasha, MN, Gets a Solution

A homeowner from Wabasha, MN, was worried about her basement. Each time it rained, her sump pump had a harder and harder time keeping up with the water intrusion. The homeowner didn't know who to call for leaky basement but quickly found American Waterworks through the recommendation of friends and neighbors. A few weeks after claiming her FREE estimate, our Design Specialist, Ryan M, headed out to home to assess the basement leaks.

When Ryan arrived he headed to the basement to begin his inspection. Once he completed his walkthrough, he sat down with the homeowner to go over his findings. Ryan began by informing the homeowner that she made the right decision by having American Waterworks out. He went on to say that leaky basements do not get better with time. In fact, they only worsen, dragging down home health and value with it. Ryan then stated that he was recommending three of our products to ensure the basement stayed dry. First, Ryan discussed our CleanSpace vapor barrier. This 100% waterproof plastic tarp-like material gets fastened directly to basement walls, and works to direct any water entering the space downward and into a perimeter drain. Most notably, our CleanSpace is anti-microbial, meaning it prevents bacteria and viruses from growing on the wall. To compliment this product, Ryan recommended our DryTrak perimeter drain. The CleanSpace on the walls is fed directly into the DryTrak. The DryTrak gives water entering a channel to flower freely to the proper disposal site. DryTrak reqyuires no jackhammering, is above to the mud zone to prevent clogging, and includes a lifetime warranty. Finally, Ryan wanted to give the basement a final line of defense, our SuperSump sump system, an effective yet economical decision to rid your basement of unwanted water. Our SuperSump includes a powerful Zoeller® ⅓ horsepower cast-iron sump pump, capable of pumping 2,220 gallons of water per hour at an 8-foot head out of your basement. The homeowner was thrilled with Ryan's recommendations, and couldn't wait for her basement to be dry and healthy.

Several weeks later our Foreman, Raul B, installed 30ft of DryTrak, 1 SuperSump, and 30ft of CleanSpace in the basement. Now, our customer can move forward without worries of leaky basements cause unexpected expenses!
