This bowed wall was very much a cause of concern for the people living above. The gap you see in the middle of the wall is most likely where the frost line is in the dirt outside of the basement. The frost line often correlates with where a wall bows inward because it is where the most pressure is exerted on the wall over time. We fixed the bowed wall by installing our PowerBrace system. The PowerBraces are designed to prevent floor joist damage, unlike other commonly seen repairs. They are also designed to stay rust free, and possibly straighten the wall back out over time. Many homes in the Hillsboro area are experiencing a certified draught, which is causing settlement issues for many homes. For this home, their back porch was sinking because of dried up soil, and so we installed piers to stabilize it. The wall in this basement had developed a substantial horizontal crack, caused by external pressure over time. Fortunately, because the top and bottom sections of the wall remained stable, our PowerBrace system was employed to correct the problem. PowerBraces, specifically designed to spread the wall’s weight across the basement floor and ceiling joists, prevent further damage to these areas. These braces are straightforward to install, typically taking just one day, and can gradually restore the wall to its original position. Additionally, their flexible design allows them to be fitted around obstacles, such as a fuse box.

The main beam in the ceiling of this basement had become warped from excessive use. To add extra support and to stop the floors from sagging from the floor above, we installed SmartJacks and a supplemental beam across the main beam. The result was a success. 

This homeowner was having problems with their chimney sinking away from the home. Often times, chimneys have their own foundation and are very heavy, making them sink into the ground. We installed helical piers at the base of the chimney, and raised the base back to where it originally was installed.
