An Olivia, MN, homeowner had recently learned about the dangers of radon gas on a household. She decided to head to her local home improvement store to purchase and conduct at-home radon level tests. When both of her tests came back with alarmingly high levels, she knew she had to contact a radon specialist. She quickly found our website and signed up for her FREE estimate. Several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Tony B, headed out to the home. 

Tony began his inspection by scouting out the best place to put a radon mitigation system. When he finished, he met with the homeowner to deliver his recommendation. Tony started by explaining that radon gas is colorless, odorless, and tasteless, making it completely undetectable without proper testing. He went on to say that radon gas comes from the breakdown of soil surrounding the foundation of a home. It finds its way into your space through tiny holes and cracks in the foundation of your home, silently wreaking havoc on the lungs. Tony finished by saying that radon gas is the second leading cause of lung cancer, right behind cigarette smoking. Then, Tony told the homeowner that, due to the high levels in the home, he would strongly urge her to consider installing a radon mitigation system. Tony explained that a typical radon mitigation system consists of a large-diameter plastic pipe that connects the air beneath your foundation to the outdoors. An in-line fan sucks radon-rich air from beneath your foundation and expels this hazardous air to the exterior. Instead of entering your basement or other living space area through numerous gaps and cracks in the foundation, radon gas is extracted from beneath your foundation before it can permeate into interior space. When installed by an experienced professional, a radon mitigation system will lower the concentration of radon gas in the interior of the home to the minimal levels recommended by the EPA and other health and safety agencies. The homeowner was thrilled to know there was a solution to her issue and scheduled the job on the spot.

Cindy H. of Glyndon, MN had water leaking from his ceiling down the walls, and she wasn't sure what was causing it to leak. In the hole, our crew installed our SuperSump Plus M53, which is a sump pump designed to discharge water out of the basement by keeping it away from the foundation. Next, our crew installed our CleanSpace Wall System Vapor Barrier, which is a barrier that prevents water from seeping through the basement walls and saves money on energy costs. To complete the project, our crew filled the open-floor gaps with river rock and applied new concrete over them, ensuring the space was neater than when they found it.

Our design specialist, Skylar, visited the property and recommended that the customer invest in our WaterGuard system. This particular system is typically used in basements and is the premier for basement waterproofing. It is installed below the floor but rests atop the foundation, keeping it out of the "mud zone" and making it harder to clog. 

Foreman, Arturo, and his crew headed out and got started on making Karen's home a drier, safer place to live. First, our WaterGuard is a patented below-floor drain that rests in a drainage bed on top of the foundation footing. It is our most commonly used drain system because of its resistance to water clogs, easy-to-access service ports, and ability to collect leaking water from basement walls. The team then covered the open gaps with rock and replaced the concrete.

The drainage system now properly guides water to the Super Sump Plus pump, which pushes the water through the discharge line and expels it from the home. Karen was pleased with the results and is glad her basement is now a dry, healthy space.

Richard H. in Lewisville, MN was tired of dealing with the frustration of his sunken driveway. It had sunk 2-3 inches below the concrete floor of the garage and created a large bump when driving in and out.
