Radon Mitigation System Installation in Northfield, MN
A homeowner from Northfield, MN got in contact with us when they suspected their home was infested with Radon, a naturally occurring radioactive gas that occurs as the soil around the foundation of your home breaks down. Our customers knew that Radon has become the second-leading cause of lung cancer, second only to cigarette smoke. He knew that if the issue was left unresolved, he could run the risk of severely compromising his and his family's health. When he called in, we set him up with our FREE estimate, and our Design Specialist, Jarrett headed out to the house to test the levels. Jarrett completed a charcoal test, which consists of leaving a small kit behind in the home for 48-72 hours, after which the levels of Radon can be gauged. Once the test came back, the Radon levels in the home showed to be over 9 pCi/L. We recommend taking action with levels at 4 pCi/L or above, as 1 pCi/L of Radon is equivalent to smoking 2.5 cigarettes a day. Jarrett recommended that our customer strongly consider having a Radon Mitigation system installed. He explained that this system works to pull Radon from the home, pipe it upwards through an installed vent, and expel it outward and away from the home. Our customer agreed and work began shortly after.
Our Foreman, Dakota, and his team installed the system quickly and efficiently, and now our customer is happy to know that he no longer has to worry about Radon harming him or his family.
Hazardous Radon Levels in Northfield, MN
A Northfield, MN, resident had just learned about radon and the dangers it could pose to his family. He decided to look for reputable radon contractors in MN and eventually found our website. He was impressed by the work we had done in his area and decided to sign up for his FREE estimate. A few weeks later, one of our Design Specialists, Darin S, headed out to the home to see what could be done.
Part of Darin's inspection was leaving behind a radon charcoal test on the lower level of the home. This test works to gauge the average radon levels in the home over a period of 48 hours, after which time homeowners are responsible for sending their tests to a pre-determined business that delivers the results. Darin explained that while radon can be dangerous, American Waterworks can offer a solution. If the results came back higher than 4 piC/L, Darin wanted to install a radon mitigation system. He explained that these machines work to pull dangerous radon from the home, piping it upward through PVC to the top of the home, where it expels the radon out and away from the home. The homeowner liked the sound of Darin's suggestion but decided to wait until their radon test came back.
When the test returned, the homeowner decided to install the mitigation system. On the day of the project, our Foreman, Dakota M, and his team installed the system in no time. Now, our customer can breathe easier knowing he has clean air circulating in his home!
