Damp Basement Gets a Solution in Wabasso, MN
A Wabasso, MN, homeowner faced a unique basement issue. Each time it rained, the basement fell victim to unwanted standing water. The homeowner had tried several DIY home remedies to fix the water intrusion, but nothing worked. She knew she needed to find a MN basement waterproofing contractor but didn't know where to start. One day she spotted one of our vehicles on the road and read that we offer basement waterproofing. She decided to set up her FREE estimate, and several weeks later, Kevin B, one of our Design Specialists, headed out to the home.
When Kevin arrived at the property, he got right to work assessing the basement. When he finished, he met with the homeowner to deliver his recommendations. First, Kevin began by stating that he wanted to install our Basement to Beautiful wall panels, the superior choice for a dry, energy-efficient basement. These insulated panels provide 24% more energy savings than conventional foam products, creating a warm protective blanket around your basement that will never rot or support mold growth. Next, Kevin wanted to install our WaterGuard. This unique French drain gets installed below the slab of the basement floor, atop the footing of the foundation. It works to catch water coming up through the floor, giving it a channel to flow freely to a proper disposal site. Because the basement lacked a means of disposal, Kevin wanted to use our TripleSafe sump pump, the most reliable sump in our lineup. These powerful pumps provide three levels of protection for your basement and your peace of mind. For normal functioning, the TripleSafe has a powerful cast-iron Zoeller 1/3 horsepower pump set at the lowest level. For times of heavy water intrusion, this machine boasts a more powerful Zoeller 1/2 hr pump set a bit higher in the liner. The homeowner agreed with all of Kevin's recommendations and scheduled the job on the spot.
The day of the project finally rolled around. Our Foreman, Jeromy A, was able to lead his team through the successful installation of 170ft of WaterGuard, 1 TripleSafe, and 49 ft of Basement to Beautiful panels. When they had finished, the homeowner was thrilled to know that his basement waterproofing issues were in the past!

High Levels of Radon Gas Mitigated in Dundee, MN
A homeowner from Dundee, MN, was at a home improvement store one day when he spotted an at-home radon gas testing kit. He didn't know much about the dangerous gas but decided to test his home nonetheless. He was surprised when the test came back with higher than normal levels. The homeowner was uneasy about his family breathing in the gas and decided to consult a specialist about the problem. When he found our website, he signed up for his FREE estimate, and several weeks later, Kevin B, one of our Design Specialists, was headed to the home.
Knowing the home had high radon levels, Kevin focused his inspection on finding a good space for a mitigation system, should the customer want to move forward. When he finished his inspection, he met with the homeowner. He explained that radon gas is a radioactive gas that comes from the breakdown of soil around your home's foundation. It finds its way into your space through holes and cracks in the foundation, silently wreaking havoc on the lining of the lungs. Kevin went on to say that radon gas is the second leading cause of lung cancer behind cigarette smoking, claiming 21,000 lives annually. Kevin could tell the homeowner was growing uneasy, so he reassured him that while the situation was serious, American Waterworks could help. Kevin strongly urged the homeowner to address the problem with our radon mitigation system. He explained that a typical radon mitigation system consists of a large-diameter plastic pipe that connects the air beneath your foundation to the outdoors. An in-line fan sucks radon-rich air from beneath your foundation and expels this hazardous air to the exterior. Instead of entering your basement or other living space area through numerous gaps and cracks in the foundation, radon gas is extracted from beneath your foundation before it can permeate into interior space. He went on to say that, when installed by an experienced professional, a mitigation system will lower the concentration of radon in the interior of the home to minimal levels recommended by the EPA and other health and safety agencies. The homeowner was relieved to know that Kevin had a solution for his household. He needed a few weeks to think about the project but ended up calling Kevin to schedule an installation date.
Our Foreman, Geno M, and his team arrived bright and early on the day of the project and got right to work. When they had finished installing the system, our homeowner was thrilled to know that his home was well on the way to circulating fresh air!
