A couple from Brainerd, MN got in contact with us when they began to notice cold floors on their main level, as well as higher than normal energy bills. When they called in, they used their FREE estimate to have one of our Design Specialists, Jesse, out to the property to assess the situation. Once Jesse had completed his walkthrough, he was able to make his recommendations as to how we could help. Jesse wanted to use our CleanSpace for crawl spaces vapor barrier to address the issue. He explained that the benefits of our CleanSpace included controlling mold and rot, saving money on utilities, sealing away odors, as well as keeping pests and inspects out of the space. He went on to say that the process of installing CleanSpace is minimal. The couple agreed and work began shortly after.
Our Foreman, Raul, and his team wound up installing 995 sqft of our CleanSpace throughout the crawl space. Once the job was complete, the couple was happy to know that their home was more efficient than before!
Leaky Basement Waterproofing in Brainerd, MN
A homeowner in Brainerd, MN was concerned about his basement when he noticed some water damage in a corner of the utility room. Not sure what this meant for the basement, he wanted to get a professional's opinion on what should be done before trying to fix it himself. He went online to search "Minnesota basement waterproofing" and found a variety of results that came up. After shuffling through some of the options, he decided to go with American Waterworks because of our FREE no-obligation estimate service. One of our Design Specialists, Shane Nephew, later went to the home to inspect the basement and see what should be done in terms of repairs. Shane determined that our WaterGuard basement system should be installed to move any incoming water away from the home and directing it safely to the sump pump. The homeowner was glad to hear this and agreed to the installation. Damp Basement Transformed in Brainerd, MN
A Brainerd, MN, homeowner was quickly losing her patience with her sump pump. The system was older and had a tough time keeping up with water flow in times of heavy intrusion. The homeowner knew she needed to upgrade her sump pump, and began looking for sump pump repair companies in Minnesota. When she found our website, she signed up for our FREE estimate, and several weeks later, one of our Design Specialists was out at the home.
After completing his comprehensive inspection, our Design Specialist was ready to make his recommendation. First, he recommended our CleanSpace vapor barrier be installed in the problem corner of the room. He explained that this 100% waterproof tarp-like material gets applied directly to the wall and works to collect any water entering through cracks and holes in the space, directing it down and into a perimeter drain that our Design Specialist was recommended to be our WaterGuard. This french drain is placed below the floor of the basement but atop the footing of the foundation, keeping it out of the 'mud zone' where similar drains tend to clog. It collects the water flowing down from the CleanSpace, as well as water entering through holes in the floor, giving it a channel to flow to a disposal site such as a sump pump or discharge line. Because the basement lacked a means of disposing of unwanted water, our Design Specialist recommended our SuperSump plus sump pump, an effective and economical solution to unwanted water. The homeowner agreed and scheduled the job on the spot.
On the day of the installation, our Foreman, RJ L, led his team through the successful installation of 29 ft of WaterGuard, 14ft of CleanSpace, and 1 SuperSump plus sump pump. Now, our customer can breathe a bit easier knowing that her new waterproofing system will be there during times of heavy rain!
Radon Gas Mitigated from Adrian, MN, Home
A homeowner from Adrian, MN, was at his local home improvement store one day when he noticed an at-home radon gas testing kit. He didn't know much about the dangers of radon gas but knew that if levels in his home were high, he might need to take action. After conducting a test himself, he was floored when the results came back at 23 pCi/L. Panicked, he decided to find Minnesota radon specialists who could help. After finding our website, he was impressed with our radon mitigation pictures from other projects in his area and decided to sign up for his FREE estimate.
Several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Tony B, was headed out to the home. When Tony arrived, he got right to work inspecting the home. When he finished, he met with the homeowner. He first commended him for calling in an expert, as radon gas is odorless, colorless, and tasteless, making it impossible to detect without proper testing. He went on to say that, the Environmental Protection Agency recommends taking action for any levels higher than 4 pCi/L, and that because of the elevated levels in the home, he was recommending a radon mitigation system be installed. Tony explained that a typical radon mitigation system consists of a large-diameter plastic pipe that connects the air beneath your foundation to the outdoors. An in-line fan sucks radon-rich air from beneath your foundation and expels this hazardous air to the exterior. Instead of entering your basement or other living space area through numerous gaps and cracks in the foundation, radon gas is extracted from beneath your foundation before it can permeate into interior space. He finished by saying that, when installed by a licensed professional, a radon mitigation system will lower the concentration of radon gas in the interior air to minimal levels recommended by the EPA and other health agencies. The homeowner liked Tony's plan and scheduled the work for several weeks later.
On the day of the installation, our Foreman, Dakota, and his team were able to seamlessly place the system within the home, successfully restoring the homeowner's faith in the air circulating his home!
