He got our radon mitigation system installed by our Foreman, Dakota, and his crew member, Geno. Dakota started the installation in the utility room to the garage and through the roof, where the radon was able to escape into the open air. The purpose of our radon mitigation system is to expose radon out of the house. It can be installed in several different locations on the property depending on the basement, crawl space, or concrete slab.

Our Foreman, Geno Mclain, and his crew member started the installation from the basement utility room to the outside of the home, where they installed the system. The mitigation system is the heart of the system; if it isn't working, radon will not be able to escape the home. A concerned homeowner from Minnetonka, MN, enlisted our services when she suspected that her home was infested with Radon gas, which is incredibly harmful when inhaled for prolonged periods of time. Our Radon Design Specialist went out to the property and set up a Continuous Radon Monitor (CRM) to find out what the levels in the home were. After 48 hours, our Design Specialist returned for the kit and found the levels in the home to be above 4 pCi/L. The Nation Radon Defense recommends homeowners take action to lower the levels if they are above 4. Our Foreman, Geno, scheduled a time for the homeowner to set up a Radon mitigation system that works to expel the Radon out and away from the home. Now this homeowner can have peace of mind knowing that she has taken the right steps towards breathing cleaner and safer air! 

Anne L. and her husband in Mankato, MN had recently purchased a home and their realtor recommended that they have the home tested for radon before they move in. After learning that radon is the #1 cause of lung cancer for non-smokers and kills over 21,000 people each year, they started looking for a company to test their home, so they would not be putting their health at risk. Their realtor recommended using American Waterworks, so they gave us a call and we sent our one of our Design Specialists, Jeremy Radtke, to set up the test. 48 hours later, Jeremy came back to read the test results. He discovered that their house did in fact have high levels of radon. Jeremy recommended that they have our radon mitigation system installed as soon as possible and they agreed.

Our radon mitigation specialists drilled a hole through the concrete in the basement to create a suction point for the gas. Then, a PVC pipe is inserted which goes up through the house and exits the home through the roof. A fan is installed at the top of the PVC pipe to ensure that the radon gas is being pushed away from the home. The post radon mitigation test showed a drastic reduction in radon gas, and they were relieved that their health would not be compromised. The installation only took one day to complete, and now they can rest easy knowing that their home is protected.
