Sump Pump Saves Basement in Winona, MN

A homeowner from Winona, MN, got in touch with us after her basement began taking on water after a hard rain. She signed up for her FREE estimate, and several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Ryan K, was out at the home.

Ryan got right to work assessing the basement. When he finished, he was ready to make his recommendations. First, Ryan wanted to use our WaterGuard perimeter drain. This unique French drain gets installed below the basement floor but atop the footing of the foundation, keeping it out of the 'mud zone' where other drains of its nature tend to clog. Ryan explained that this drain works to collect any water coming up through the floor, giving it a channel to flow freely to a disposal site. During Ryan's inspection, he noticed that the basement lacked a means of disposing of the unwanted water, so he recommended our TripleSafe sump pump. This powerful pump is the most reliable in our lineup, offering three levels of protection for both your basement and your peace of mind. The homeowner agreed with his recommendations and decided to schedule the job for several weeks later.

On the day of the project, our Foreman, Victor S, led his team through the successful installation of 20ft of WaterGuard and 1 TripleSafe sump. Now, our customer can enjoy the rain without wondering if it will end up in her basement!

Radon Gas Mitigated in Winona, MN

A homeowner from Winona, MN, had been listening to the radio when she heard a warning about radon gas. She knew very little about the dangers that radon gas can pose to a household. She decided that it was better to be safe than sorry, and vowed to find a radon mitigation company to test her home. When she found our website, she signed up for one of our FREE estimates, and several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Nate B, was headed out to the home.

When Nate arrived, he began his inspection by placing a charcoal radon test on the lowest level of the home. Nate explained to the homeowner that this test is comprised of an airtight container with activated charcoal being opened in the home and radon in the air absorbed into the charcoal granules, giving our team an accurate reading of the radon within the home. Nate went on to say that, should the results return higher than 4 pCi/L, he would strongly urge the homeowner to consider installing a radon mitigation system. He explained that a typical radon mitigation system consists of a large-diameter plastic pipe that connects the air beneath your foundation to the outdoors. An in-line fan sucks radon-rich air from beneath your foundation and expels this hazardous air to the exterior. Instead of entering your basement or other living space area through numerous gaps and cracks in the foundation, radon gas is extracted from beneath your foundation before it can permeate into interior space. The homeowner liked Adam's approach but decided to wait until the results returned to make a choice. A few short days later, the results returned at 8 pCi/L, double the levels recommended by the EPA. The homeowner called Adam and the two worked together to find a day for our team to come back to install the system.

Several weeks later, our Foreman, Dakota M, was headed to the home. Dakota and his team were able to seamlessly place the radon system in the home, successfully restoring our customer's peace of mind in the air circulating the home!

Local Crawl Space Repair in Winona, MN

In Winona, MN, a homeowner was growing more concerned about the crawl space beneath her home. Although the space was small, she had noticed that a musty smell had been steadily growing throughout the home, accompanied by sloping floors in the room above the crawl space. Never having faced these issues before, the homeowner worried about what an unhealthy crawl space could mean for her home. In search of local crawl space repair, she found American Waterworks. She took her time reading about our crawl space repair options and impressed with our crawl space before and after pictures of projects we had completed in her area. Confident she had found the right contractor, she claimed her FREE estimate, and several weeks later our Design Specialist, Ryan M, headed out to the home to see what could be done for the damp crawl space.

When he arrived, he got as far into the crawl space as he could to check for the source of water intrusion, or signs of failing support beams. When Ryan finished his comprehensive estimate, he met up with the homeowner to go over his recommendations. Ryan began by stating that your home is only as healthy as your crawl space allows. Ryan provided her with a comprehensive plan that included our CleanSpace for crawl spaces, drainage matting, SmartDrain, TerraBlock, and SmartJacks for crawl spaces. Impressed with the comprehensive plan, the homeowner booked the job on the spot.

When the day of the installation rolled around, our Foreman, Kevin M, and his crew got right to work. They started with our smartjack support system, an adjustable supplemental support system specially used to address sagging floors caused by failing crawl spaces. Next, they removed excess dirt from the area, and followed this step by laying down our drainage matting. This dimpled matting gives water entering the crawl space a channel to flow freely to a disposal site, which in this case Ryan had recommended to be our SmartDrain. This drain works to remove excess water from crawl spaces, keeping the home healthy and dry for years to come. Finally, Kevin laid down our CleanSpace vapor barrier, a 100% waterproof plastic vapor barrier with something called UltraFresh, an antimicrobial coating, built in. When the project had been completed, our customer was thrilled to know that her crawl space concerns were in the past!

Leaking Basement Fixed in Alma, WI

Holly W. of Alma, WI had water leaking into her basement, causing her to worry about damage to property. She got in contact with our office staff at American Waterworks and scheduled a FREE estimate with our Design Specialist, Rick. Rick went to her home, carefully inspected her problems, and drew out the solution of our WaterGuard Drainage System, which serves as an underground drain. Holly was confident in Rick's proposal, so he went ahead with the project and scheduled a date for the installation.

Our Foreman, Tremaine, and his production team began the project by breaking out the concrete floor perimeter, forming a trench. In the trench, our team installed our WaterGuard. Not only does it serve as an underground drain, but it also collects water leaking from basement walls and prevents water or mud clogs during harsh weather conditions. To complete the installation, our team filled the open gaps with pea gravel and applied new concrete over them, ensuring that the basement was cleaner than when they found it. Holly was satisfied with the work that was completed!

Not only do we provide work in basement waterproofing. We also perform services in foundation repair, crawl space repair/encapsulation, radon testing/mitigation, egress windows, and concrete repair/lifting. Call us today or click HERE to request your free estimate!

Leaky Basement Solved in Downing, WI

A Downing, WI, homeowner knew that her sump sump was on it's last leg. The system rarely turned on during times of heavy rain, and she was tired of dealing with the aftermath. She began to look into sump pump companies in the area, and quickly found American Waterworks. She was impressed with our 4.8 Google star reviews, and decided to schedule her FREE inspection. A few weeks later, our Design Specialist, Mac C, headed out to the home.

Once Mac finished his inspection, he met with the homeowner to inform her that the issue was a bit more serious than she had previously thought. Mac stated that water was entering the space in various locations. Mac wanted a more comprehensive solution for the homeowner, so in addition to recommending a new sump system, he also recommended our WaterGuard below-floor drain. Our WaterGuard system is the ideal choice for waterproofing, as it subtly sits atop the footing of the foundation, but below the cement floor of the basement, so it works without looking unsightly. The unique placement of the drain keeps it out of the mud-zone, making it less prone to clogging. For the sump system, Mac recommended our SuperSump sump system. This effective and economical sump system is engineered to help keep the basement dry and healthy for extended periods of time, even in times of heavy water intrusion. The homeowner was thrilled with Mac's comprehensive solution, and the two began to look for a date for install.

When the project was completed, our Foreman, Raul, and his team successfully transformed the basement, and the homeowner was thrilled to know that her water intrusion issues were behind her!
