Failing Wall Addressed in Rochester, MN

A Rochester, MN, homeowner was down in his basement doing laundry one evening when he noticed a large crack running the length of the basement. Worried about what this could mean for the structural integrity of the home, he decided to find a foundation repair company in Rochester, MN. He quickly found American Waterworks and signed up for his FREE estimate.

Several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Ross J, was headed out to the home. When Ross arrived, he got right to work assessing the foundation of the home. When he finished, he met with the homeowner. He began by informing the homeowner that foundation walls are not designed to withstand pressure on the side of the wall. So when the pressure exceeds what the wall can withstand, it's not uncommon for homeowners to see bowing, cracking, tilting inward at the top, and/or sliding in at the bottom of the wall. For this reason, Ross wanted to use our GeoLock wall anchors. These anchos counteract the pressure being put on the wall by anchoring it to the undisturbed, hard-packed soil beyond the foundation of the home. The homeowner was thrilled with Ross's explanation and solution, and signed on the spot.

A month or so later, our team was on their way to install the anchors. Our Foreman, Jesus C, and his team effortlessly installed 9 of our GeoLock anchors in the basement of the home. Now, our homeowner can confidently continue their everyday lives, knowing that their foundation is stable.

He was afraid that if the issue went unresolved, he would run the risk of compromising the structural integrity of the home. When he called, we set him up with our FREE estimate. Next, our Design Specialist, Dustin, headed out to the house to complete a thorough inspection of the issue. When he had finished his walkthrough, he recommended the homeowner use our C-Channel anchor system. He explained that this system provides a permanent solution for bowing, buckling, tilting, or inward-moving foundation walls that are demonstrating signs of extreme wall failure. He went on to say that this system works to immediately stabilize walls by pushing in at the bottom, as well as anchoring deep in the soil. Our customer agreed and work began shortly after.

Our Foreman, Jose C, and his crew ended up installing 10 of our C-Channels throughout the space. Now our customer no longer needs to worry about foundation issues!

Sunken Floor Beams in Wyoming, MN Home

Darrin K. in Wyoming, MN noticed that the moisture in his crawl space was damaging the beams that were supporting the floor. The beams had started rotting, which caused the floor to sag. He knew the problem was only going to get worse, so he started looking at repair options. He chose to contact American Waterworks to receive a FREE estimate, so we sent one of our Design Specialists, Chad Johnson, to his home to inspect his crawl space and design a solution.

Chad recommended having SmartJacks installed in the crawl space to support the beams. Darrin was comfortable with this solution, so our production crew installed 6 SmartJacks and 32ft of supplemental beams. Our crawl space structural support jacks, called SmartJacks, are made of galvanized steel for corrosion resistance and can support loads of more than 60,000lbs! Our SmartJacks are the ONLY crawl space support jacks that address problem soils, so the SmartJacks provide a permanent solution for rotting, sagging floor beams. Darrin was pleased with the transformation and he is no longer concerned about the stability of his floors.

Severely Damaged Foundation Restored in Rochester, MN

Lori B. in Rochester, MN contacted American Waterworks after realizing that the foundation of her home was failing. She wanted to receive a FREE estimate, so we sent one of our Design Specialists, Dustin Loftus, to inspect her home and provide her with a solution. Dustin developed a thorough plan to permanently restore her foundation.

Using wall anchors, our production crew drilled small holes through the failing block foundation and into the soil surrounding the home. In order to straighten the wall, they had to dig out the soil pushing against the foundation. They secured each end of the metal rods with anchor plates and tightened them as far as they would go. This process gradually straightened the foundation wall, and permanently secured it. Having wall anchors installed saved this foundation from failing altogether and saved the homeowner from the expenses of a full foundation replacement.
