A homeowner from Arlington, MN got in contact with us when they learned of hazardous radon gas and wanted to have their home tested to make sure the air they were breathing was healthy. A few weeks later, our Design Specialist, Kevin, headed out to the property to assess the situation. Part of Kevin's visit was leaving a Radon test kit in the basement of the home. Once the Radon test kit had sat in the basement long enough, the sample was sent in for evaluation. The numbers can back reading 12.7 pCi/L, which is extremely high. The EPA recommends taking action on any radon levels over 4 pCi/L. Kevin let the homeowners know that while the numbers were high, our Radon mitigation system would bring those numbers way down to inhabitable conditions. He went on to say that the mitigation system works to pull radon from the home, piping it upwards, and expelling it out through the top of the home, and out and away from the house. A concerned customer enlisted our services when she began to notice one of the walls in her basement beginning to crack and bow. Our Design Specialist, Richie, recommended she have our PowerBrace system installed to add further stabilization to the foundation of the house. The Foreman on the project, Cameron, installed the system. Our PowerBrace system is an adjustable steel beam that can be tightened over time, ensuring that your foundation will remain stable and strong. Charles, a homeowner in Waldorf, MN needed guidance in solving his water and radon issues. After scheduling his FREE estimate, our Design Specialist Lance headed out to the property for an inspection. He explained radon is a hazardous, invisible, and odorless gas that is the second leading cause of lung cancer behind cigarette smoking. Lance suggested having a new extraction point installed to depressurize the home. He explained that once the system was installed, it would work to pull Radon from the house, pipe it upwards through venting, and push it out and away from the home. Lance also walked Charles through our waterproofing WaterGuard system. This particular system is typically used in basements and is the premier choice for basement waterproofing as it is installed below the floor, but rests atop the foundation, keeping it out of the "mud zone", making it harder to clog. Charles agreed with Ian's recommendation, and work began shortly after.

Our Foreman, Cameron, and his crew quickly and efficiently installed the system. First, our WaterGuard is a patented below-floor drain that rests in a drainage bed on top of the foundation footing. It is our most commonly used drain system because of its resistance to water clogs, easy-to-access service ports, and ability to collect leaking water from basement walls. The team then covered the open gaps with rock and replaced the concrete. Then, the SuperSump Plus. In addition, the plan was to add a discharge line to ensure the radon went up and out of the house.

Our team connected PVC piping from the sump pump to the ceiling and out of the home, where our team installed the system. The mitigation system is the heart of the system; if it isn't working properly, no radon can escape the home. Once they installed the system and its cover outside the home, they connected PVC piping from the system alongside the home until it reached the roof. The radon was able to escape the home quickly and efficiently. Charles was glad he got this taken care of, and his peace of mind was restored knowing he was breathing in safe air.
